How Can I Help?
Interested in helping support literacy in the District of Columbia? There are many ways to help support D.C. LEARNs and/or our members, including donating books, volunteering, or making a charitable donation.
D.C. LEARNs is a privately funded, non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Your financial gift to D.C. LEARNs will help us build a stronger system of literacy services in Washington, D.C. and help policy makers understand the link between literacy, poverty, and inequality.
With your help, we will be able to:
- Continue to provide adult literacy teachers and tutors with the most recent research-based training on sound literacy instructional practices through our Adult Education Professional Development Center;
- Continue to operate our literacy hotline and grow and maintain our database of programs;
- Help D.C. residents find adult, child, and family literacy volunteer opportunities;
- Collect and distribute book donations;
- Monitor the city budget process and any other legislative activities with implications on literacy services.
