Donations to D.C. LEARNs

Thank you for supporting D.C. LEARNs’ training, policy, and education programs. Your tax-deductible contribution can have an enormous impact: $100 can keep a childcare center or pediatric clinic supplied with children’s books for a month; $500 provides facilities and a trainer for an adult literacy teacher workshop; and $6000 provides the matching funds we need to recruit and train a Literacy*AmeriCorps member to teach at a local literacy program for a year. Your tax-deductible donations make all of our work possible, and with your commitment to literacy, we can do even more in 2010.

Catalogue for Philanthropy: 2009-10

DC LEARNs is proud to be part of the Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington. Each year some 200-250 organizations survive a rigorous vetting process and are selected, according to Catalogue President, Barbara Harman, as “one of the best small charities in the Washington, DC region.” The Catalogue’s new Web site includes a gift registry and gift cards, and even a “donate now/decide later” fund that lets donors give in December and make their choices in January. According to Harman, “the new Catalogue Web site is the broadest and deepest regional philanthropy website in the country.” We’re proud to be featured on it, and we strongly encourage donors to take advantage of the Catalogue’s online donation system when making a donation to D.C. LEARNs.
